Acererak Illustration | DnD

A comics-style art commission of Acererak. Thank you R.C.! This is equivalent to my painterly sketch style commission.

Dungeons and Dragons Acererak comic-style Illustration.
A comic-style version of Acererak, with their thumbs up.

Acererak is a lich/demilich from the Dungeons & Dragons universe, and the character painted in the 5th edition Dungeon Master Guide cover.

To summarize, demiliches have “transcended” their past lich selves to a new stage of subsistence in which their souls can be attached to artifacts outside their bodies. So they don’t need to inhabit the totality of their bodies anymore, nor can they perish — unless all their soul fragments are destroyed.

Steps and development

My first works in progress had a few thumbnail pose and costume tests, as I usually do to plan a scene out, and then I played a bit with colors until satisfied with the overall atmosphere.
