A Terminator armor and ancient-Egypt inspired illustration made for The Legions Reborn, a Horus Heresy 40K alternate universe.
This was a lovely collaboration in which I had a lot of creative freedom and painted portraits for the Watchers of Akhet. There is also a Primarch for the Gilded Vanguard. I’ll add a few of those illustrations below.
TLR has its own wiki, lore, and character art from multiple artists. Thank you M. B. & team for your time and trust!

Mekhit
We had terminator armors and bubble helmets as inspiration, and I added the signature Watchers’ ancient Egypt iconography.
Primarch Jacinto Borja
Jacinto was painted for a legion named Gilded Vanguard.
If my memory doesn’t fail me — it’s been a while since I painted those —, this legion has a noble disposition (which may come off as standoffish and arrogant) and draws inspiration from “Spanish conquistadores”, so I used as references morion helmets and ceremonial armor decoration. I went with dark, intricate armor design.
Small story: Jacinto became legendary in my community of friends and viewers. I streamed part of his painting process and he was an instant hit — everyone loved him and his name.
Development
Aesculapius
I went absolutely nuts painting the huge fantasy-leaning battleaxe.
Anukeps
For this one we decided to mix skulls, a more romanticized, fantasy-themed centurion armor.
I painted his face in a way that his upper lip shadows would resemble a skull as well.
Development videos
I streamed some of these portraits, and Jacinto still has a saved backup on my Twitch channel. This was also one of the coolest live streams I’ve done, so a big thank you to viewers, supporters, clients, and friends. ♥
