Regicide | Old RPG illustration

An old RPG illustration made for a homebrew system based on politics and backstabbing. I cleaned up some of the final art patterns and symbols so they could be used as dividers, frames and miscellaneous text decoration as well.

I adore drawing in that old engraved, RPG and choose-your-own-adventure art style, so this was a treat.

Software: Photoshop and Blender

Illustration of a dead king. He was stabbed by a zweihander sword as he sat on a throne. The throne is framed by curtains, and the drawing itself has an intricate frame decorated with patterns of daggers, skulls, nightshade leaves, snakes and a crown.

Drawings of daggers, a skull, nightshade leaves, brood drops, snakes, a crown, and a seamless pattern with a tree, moon, lobster and waves.
Cleaned-up symbols and frames for decoration.

The lower left waves and tree can be used as a seamless pattern. They’re based on the moon tarot card and related well with the client’s vision for the setting.

3 rough sketches of a throne drawing. One of them features the king.
Cleaned-up symbols and frames for decoration.

Initially, we explored the idea of a frontal shot, and also an empty throne with a large sword stuck on it, while surrounded by bodies. In the end the client opted for the dead noble option.

This artwork is available on my INPRNT and should be released soon for my Patrons as well.
