I listened to a few episodes of the Mighty Nein, Critical Role’s second campaign, and drew Mollymauk and Beauregard.
Critical role
Critical Role is an RPG series where voice actors interpret characters from Dungeons & Dragons, and you can follow the audio on their website, or watch the live streams on YouTube or Twitch.
Mollymauk Tealeaf, or Molly
Mollymauk Tealeaf is a tiefling, which are D&D humanoid beings with features such as horns, tails, and colored eyes. He wears extravagant clothes, has piercings in his horns and ears, and tattoos of peacock feathers on his neck and face.
He is played by Taliesin Jaffe and is known for his extroversion and fighting skills.
I did the painting mostly in procreate and finished it in Photoshop. I tinkered with a little less contrast than what I’m currently putting in paintings, and I’m still studying how to reproduce skin transparency.
As a note: I should update this image to paint his entire eyes red!
Beauregard Lionett, or Beau
She is a human monk controlled by Marisha Ray.
Software: A scanned traditional drawing retouched in Photoshop.

Mollymauk’s painting timelapse
I recorded a timelapse + voice-over of the painting, in which I comment on how I painted the portrait, citing brushes and techniques such as selection tools, gradients, and deforming the image with resources like “liquify.”
