An old, ragged anthro bear painting commissioned by DB. The portrait style is a painterly sketch. Thank you! 🐻

Drawing the anthro bear
The client, DB, wished for a scraggly, ragged old bear, sitting in a meditative, intellectual pose reminiscent of Socrates.
I started this drawing with more realistic, humanoid features for the bear, like the nipples and human hands. Then we tweaked the image for more animal-like features — less-defined abs, removing the hands in favor of paws, and rounder eyes.
I also painted longer tufts of hair around the bear’s jaw area to simulate a beard.
I painted part of the process in my Twitch channel. Nowadays, Patrons have access to old Twitch vods.
A lovely collaboration overall. Thank you!
Anthro art
Anthro animal art, also known as anthropomorphic animal art, is a style of artwork that combines human and animal features. In anthro art, animals are typically given human-like qualities such as walking on two legs, wearing clothing, and displaying emotions and expressions similar to those of humans.
This style of art is often associated with the furry fandom community, which celebrates anthropomorphic animals and the creativity of their fans.
