This rainbow lion print is a 2017 painting. I had spent a few weeks studying wolves and lion anatomy, hair and fur rendering techniques, and also wanted a personal work that would serve as new examples for my commission sheet.
Getting this lion print
The hi-res and .psd files for this lion are available on Patreon. You can also get this print in my store. Thank you! ♥

I recommend having a grayscale shortcut in your painting software to constantly check if values and lighting make sense.
Colors/hues can be a bit distracting whenever checking pure values.

Inspiration
Aaron Blaise, hands-down!
He is a North-American animation director, producer, and artist; best known for his work on the Disney animated films “The Lion King,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Aladdin.” Blaise is a specialist in drawing and painting wildlife, and offers multiple art classes and tutorials — his YouTube channel alone has plenty of incredible lessons already.
Video timelapses
And finally, two video timelapses with the full painting process, from lineart to finish. ♥
