An experimental realistic furry art. I used real dogs (collies and borzois) as references, and expressed darker themes in the painting.
Dermatophagia or “wolf-biting” is a disorder defined as the compulsion to bite one’s own skin. Animals may self-mutilate when under repetitive distress.
More furry experiments.
Long description
Digital painting of a howling canid, the jaw is open unnaturaly wide, with highly detailed teeth and tongue. A gold-looking substance leaks from the eye and mouth. It has a dark, blue-ish fur. The background of the portrait is a gradient of unsaturated blues and oranges.
Software and apps
Clip Studio Paint, PureRef to gather all my references.
I used many of CSP’s textured, custom brushes from their assets store. CSP is a must-have for artists imo — it has 3D features, incredible brushes, and is lighter than Krita when filled with custom content (I love Krita and I’m the one responsible for bloating it with custom resources, though!)
Another brush I’ve used a lot is one of my favorite default ones — the default smooth watercolors brush.
