A batch of Dragon Age art — most of them feature Bann Teagan and Kallian Tabris, the city elf origins Hero of Ferelden.
The fanfiction
Those grayscale sketches were made to accompany chapters of my Dragon Age Origins fanfiction named ‘Date Pies.’ Content warnings: Typical DA violence, blood, gets smutty in chapter 17 (of course it does!)
It’s a retelling of the events that happen during the Redcliffe and Landsmeet quests in DA:O.
I started writing this fanfiction piece in 2021 thinking it would be short, and with a plan to use ingame dialogue in the first chapter so it would blend gently into my version of the happenings. In the end the story was huge (to my standards at least!)
I didn’t finish the main plot of events, but was able to make a soft-ending chapter that offers some closure about the main romantic interests — Bann Teagan and the city elf Hero of Ferelden, Kallian Tabris.
Arcane Warrior City Elf
If I’m not mistaken you find a phylactery in the Brecilian Forest, and its spirit is able to teach you some Arcane Warrior memories. I like to think my character freed that spirit and acquired some nifty magical-sword skills as a reward.
It’s been a while since I played and read the lore, but I believe arcane warriors are an ancient version of Knight Enchanters, as seen in DA:I.
Besides the Ao3 page, I’m also occasionaly posting about this fanfiction and Dragon Age in general in my Tumblr.
Villagers sidestepped as he passed, ‘Man’s got a mission,’ he heard Tomas’ whistle coming from inside a store window. He stalled and turned, glaring inside. Tomas shrank a little, mouth agape, as he held a small ceramic widgeon from the vendor’s collection.
From inside, the family who ran the business and the other customers stopped to scrutinize the scruffy Bann, who had just blocked the evening sun that came in from an entire window. The eldest daughter was about to bite a shortbread biscuit and stopped moving.
“M—y lord—” tried Tomas.
“Can you do me a favor,” came Teagan’s croak.
The young man nodded without breaking eye contact, slowly putting the widgeon sculpture back to its family of baby ceramic birds.
Chapter 8: Shortbread Biscuit
After drawing dozens of Teagans plus reading so much Dragon Age lore, The portrait above was one of my favorites! I enjoy its simplicity and dark atmosphere, with the eerie mabari in the background.
In the story, Teagan ends up dreaming and seeing mabaris everywhere. It’s a residual taste of the fade left in him after the demonic possession during the Redcliffe questline.
