Cerberus concept art – WIP

I’m revisiting my old Cerberus concept art using topics from a 2D illustration to 3D miniature workshop I watched recently.

The workshop was hosted Laylton Sousa and Rodrigo Silva and it’s called Miniatures: From 2D Concept to 3D Model – Zbrush.

Grayscale concept art of a dog's pose. It has a long curly mane and tail. The tip of the tail is hairless and has a pointy end, like an arrow.

This is Cerberus, Eden’s first demon companion from my 2020 cyberpunk lineup of characters.

There’s still room to refine and correct things (and make its Zbrush version!), but I loved the class.

It was also a pleasure to revisit my personal characters and art, as well as to think about the evolution and expansion of my comfort zone from 2020 to now.

First roughs and 2020 concepts

Grayscale drawings of a dog standing and jumping down.

Sketching poses and movement lines.

At this stage it was also possible to visualize which poses would be problematic if this becomes a 3D printed model. Such as the dog leaping on the image above — it may look unique and “dramatic”, but I dropped the pose as it would either become too imbalanced and inadequate for printing, or require too much time for me to test and fix things before reaching a more adequate 3D model.

A summary of Cerberus concept art from 2020. It's a white borzoi-looking dog with curly, long fur.
