Thoughts on Networking and artist insecurities

Sunday was one of the best experiences I’ve had around artists and talent!

I was excited, and yet so nervous! I was second guessing our conversations and questioning whether I should have gone there — aka going through imposter syndrome stages.

This is a local workshop that I feel has some folks really aligned with me on career and skill goals. It is MADLY inspiring and even moving for me to be among those people. And I wish all artists had access to this.

This time I experimented with prepping myself to meet more folks, join their conversations and listen to them. Which… Was pretty fun!

On more than one occasion I was talking to some people for a few minutes only to find out they were either pretty famous, or pretty famous + someone whose work I admired and followed already (but didn’t associate said work to a face!)

This also made me think about how I miss art exchange/mentor relationships. Talking about industry, recent works, studying similar subjects etc. Perhaps if I attended those more times, eventually the discomfort would fade away.

☕️

On a side note, you will see me talking more about personal life/venting on Twitter — which is the place I had posted this textwall initially, and as a Patreon follower.
