Dragon Age Hawke commission

A Dragon Age Hawke portrait commission, painted for áine. Thank you!

Portrait of a woman with dark long hair, bangs, a smudge of red paint on her nose bridge, and elf ears.

The client’s Hawke is Amelia, a quarter-elf blood mage specialized in electricity and blood magic. As for the character’s personality, they’re sarcastic and unstable. They’re also supposed to look like Liv Tyler!

Quick summary: Dragon Age 2

In Dragon Age 2, Hawke is the protagonist of the game and the player-controlled character. Their appearance is customizable, but their background is always that of a refugee fleeing the Fifth Blight in Ferelden. The game follows Hawke’s journey as they rise from being a displaced refugee to becoming the Champion of Kirkwall, a city-state in the Free Marches.

Blood mages are found on multiple occasions throughout the game. They are portrayed as both enemies and potential allies, each with their own motivations and goals. Some of them are Anders and Merrill. The player’s choices and interactions with these characters can determine the course of events and shape the overall narrative.

The conflict between mages and Templars, and the question of whether blood magic can ever be justified, are major themes explored in DA2.

Painting Hawke

As I sent weekly WIPs, the client provided me with lightning textures they’d like to see in the image background — to compliment Hawke’s portrait with a suggestion of their magical powers.

I also added a splash of blood suspended on the air, in front of the character.

The same Hawke portrait, but with a heavy red texture behind the character.
Quick edit with heavier blood textures.
Sketch of a smirking Hawke in warm tones.
First rough! Then we decided to soften the expression and shorten the ear.
