Earth Familiar | Arcana Resurgence

Client illustration for the urban fantasy deck-building game Arcana Resurgence.

All my Arcana Resurgence cards.

Digital painting of a white opossum standing on the grass. It has some unnatural, magical-looking features such as a vine tail made of twisted twigs, and violets blooming out of its back fur. The creature's eyes are a warm brown and this is a daylight scene. A blue and purple logo that reads 'Arcana Resurgence' has been placed under the opossum.
The client wanted a green-familiar archetype creature and we brainstormed ideas until reaching this cute little guy. It’s a possum with flowers and vines sprouting from its body.

Process

Progress picture.

Initial stage

First roughs.

This is where we discussed the small flowers and vines, and I made a rough with a general pose and composition to present the possum.
