Fantasy Axe Art

Personal project in which I painted a fantasy axe, using Blender to create its initial base.

Softwares: Krita and Blender.

You can buy this print in my shop.

Development

I’m almost sure that the tutorial I followed for the axe was Blender 2.8x Low Poly Axe modeling by Blender Forbeg.

This was one of my first contacts with Blender!

Although the process felt smooth and easy for my knowledge level, I was still getting used to the navigation and basic shortcuts. I also didn’t know much about UVs, using textures, and render setups, so if I’m not mistaken the image above was either a viewport screenshot, or a viewport render.

Likewise, I could also have achieved a similar result with less edges in the cylinder used as a base for the axe handle.

In-between Blender sessions, I’d study metal and wood grain to reach the kind of texture desired for the final image.

I’m also uploading stone and crystal material studies made around that time.
