RPG Portraits

A pack of custom commissioned portraits meant to be used in Pillars of Eternity as new characters, as tabletop RPG portraits, and as printed gifts. (Cheers Rafael!)

I’m a fan of Krita’s RGBA brushes. Even their standard traditional-looking brushes can do a great job to create texture and a nice effect of visible brushstrokes, with minimal effort and brush economy.

As the campaign evolves and the character finds new equipment, adventures, and wounds, we update the portraits with new features and versions.

Softwares: Krita, Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop.

An RPG portrait painting made with visible brushstrokes. The background has heavily textured clouds and snow. The character is a black-haired man with a short beard, brown eyes, a scar on his right eye, and a leather and scales armor.
Standard version.

A portrait with fur leather armor, shining scales that resemble bone and have some wear and tear signs, greying hairs and a new scar.

A digital, painterly sketch bust rpg portrait evocative of watercolors, and the style of character art found in the game Pillars of Eternity. The background has textured blue clouds. The character is a black-haired man with a short beard, pale light skin, and a scar on his right (our left) eye. His eye globes are entirely black, and his dark hair has shaved sides and is long at the top, arranged in a low ponytail that falls on top of his left (our right) shoulder. He wears a light-colored, cool-toned scale-mail and metal armor with gray fur from a cloak or cape worn around his shoulders. Each small scale on his chest plate has an iridescent glow similar to a mother of pearl shell.

Another watercolor version.

During a new adventure, the client wished to update his watercolor RPG portraits with the scar and new leather pieces on top of his outfit.

A digital rpg portrait evocative of the painterly character art found in the game Pillars of Eternity. The background has heavily textured blue clouds and falling snow. The character is a black-haired man with a short beard. He wears a light-colored, cool-toned scale-mail and metal armor that has a gray fur patch attached over the shoulders, and open under the neck. Each small scale on his chest plate emanates an iridescent glow.
An older version of the client’s portrait — sans scars and wearing a different armor.

This version had smoother scales on his armor.

A digital, painterly rpg portrait evocative of the character art in Pillars of Eternity. The background has textured blue clouds. The character is a porcelain-skinned woman with medium, warm blond hair. It is straight and long, falling on her back. She has blue eyes, deep salmon lipstick and smiles at the POV. She wears a green shawl over her shoulders, and a blue bird stands on her left (our right) shoulder. Three butterflies colored with cyan, orange and violet gradients fly around her.
